Club Information

Our club offers a happy and fun environment where we strive for lessons to be a positive, enjoyable experience. We want everyone to leave their lessons with smiles or at least something to think about! Whether you ride a donkey, show pony or anything in between, our coaches will do their best to develop your skill and partnership with your equine friend.

This information can also be found on the Member Home page when you log ino to the membership portal.

Riding Groups

We endeavour to provide coaching for all levels of ability. The head coach and ride coaches will work together early in the season to assess the riders. Groups will be formed based on what we know and understand about each combination.  Riders will be reassessed during the season and some groups may change. We may also change around the coaches from time to time or bring in guest coaches, depending on availability of the coaches.

We hope to provide each rider with equal time and focus, however it is important to remember sometimes things don’t always go to plan and horses and riders can be unpredictable, so rides may vary from time to time.

Club Behaviour

During lessons we expect riders and parents to treat the Coaches with respect and courtesy. There is no tolerance for rudeness or a poor attitude. Communication and tolerance is vital to a great relationship between a coach and a pupil.

Rallies start at 5.15pm on Wednesdays with an unmounted meeting outside the clubrooms for both parents and riders.

  • At this meeting we will provide an update on any club news.
  • The plan for the rally will also be shared with riders and parents expected to help with any setup required.
  • Your horse/pony should tacked up and ready to ride before this meeting and be left tied up during the meeting.
  • You need to be wearing correct Pony Club uniform – Helmet, jodhpurs, boots, Pony Club shirt.
  • If you are uable to attend a rally please let us know before the rally by commenting on the Facebook event for the rally.

Respect for our grounds

Please look after our grounds.

  • The car park must be left with no horse poo or hay on the surface.
  • Do not put horse poo around the trees.
  • Leave the gates as you found them.
  • Leave the clubhouse tidy.

Achievement Cards

Achievement cards are keep for each child to track their progress towards their certificates. The cards will be kept by the Coach during the rallies. You can ask to see your child’s card at any time and we encourage you to monitor your child’s progress on the cards.

Note: If you are coming from another club it is up to you to get your child’s card and provide it to the Coach. The card will help us understand where you/your child is at in terms of riding development.

Clinics for theory and horse management will run at times during the season. Clinics can be run by any district branch and we hope you take the opportunity to attend these clinics.

Club Events

To support the fundraising for our club we run a series of events throughout the season. These events offer our riders a great opportunity to attend events in their local area and build up confidence together with their friends in the club. These events are also the main source of fundraising for our club. As a member of Helensville Pony Club members and parents are expected to support the set up and running of these events. This could include working bees before the event to prepare equipment and set up for the event, volunteering at the event on the day (i.e. as a writer, steward, taking entries, kitchen, first aid etc), providing baking to sell at the event and helping pack up after the event. The dates for the events are set at the start of the season and shared with all members.

About our Committee
